Designed to perform.
Ulnar impaction syndrome is defined as the painful compression of the ulnocarpal compartment due to a pathological positive ulnar variance. Ulnar shortening osteotomy is an established procedure to treat this indication. The APTUS Ulna Shortening System 2.5 provides an angular stable plate and guided, rotation-proof compression.

Ulnar shortening osteotomy as a treatment of symptomatic ulnar impaction syndrome after malunited distal radius fractures.2020Arch Orthop Trauma Surg.
This study by Terzis, A., et al.reviewed the clinical performance of the Medartis APTUS Wrist Ulna Shortening system for treatment of symptomatic ulnar impaction syndrome in 32 patients. The authors concluded that: "... the system showed very good functional results and no implant-associated complications, in particular no non-union in their short-term study".

Nonunion After Using Procedure-Specific Instrumentations for Ulnar Shortening Osteotomy2023Arch Bone Jt Surg.
In this study, the authors compared the rates of non-union in ulna shortening osteotomy, comparing between brands and between transverse and oblique osteotomies. Of the 92 patients in this cohort, 90% had a bone union. The authors found that transverse osteotomy was significantly related to non-union. The authors found differences in union between brands, although no statistical analysis was performed. In the 22 patients who were treated with the Medartis USO system, no non-unions or metal removals were observed.
